This is not wood work. We know how it looks like but you have to trust us on this. It is an avocado pit. Jan Campbell is the artist who make these amazing figures. She can turn almost any avocado pit into vary fascinating totem or pendant. Just look at intricate details of these figurines. That is what make these so special.

Campbell first started crafting these in 2014. She got this idea while she was making an avocado sandwich for lunch. She told that she felt reluctant to throw the avocado ‘stone’ into the bin. “I thought that it was too nice an object to throw away. I decided to hold onto the stone so I could take my time thinking about what to do with it.” She said.

She carried it with her in her coat pocket for few days until she accidentally scraped the surface of the stone with her nail. When she did that, a beautiful deep orange pigment came out, which hidden underneath the outer skin of the pit. That is when she thought about carving it. Once she got her tool kit she managed to carve a, “strange little face” as she says it, onto the pit. After it dried out it was hard as wood and she got herself a new passion.
