It is the famous black-throated bushtit which is in these pictures. It is also known as the black-throated tit and is about 10.5 centimeters/ 4 inches in length and 4-9 grams/ 0.14-0.317 ounces in weight.

A noticeable racial variation can be seen in their plumage. All subspecies have a tail of medium size along with a black throat and a blackish ‘bandit mask’ around its eye.

They have a large variation of habitats. Some of them live in Nepal, Vietnam, Bhutan, Taiwan, Northern Myanmar while some others live in the foothills of Himalayas, stretching across Northern India through North-Eastern Bangladesh. And also isolated populations have been witnessed in Southern Vietnam, further North in China and in the island of Hainan.

The habitat of black-throated bushtit is open broadleaf forest and pine forest which are located at middle altitudes. These are highly social birds and they are known to travel in considerably large flocks of about 40 birds.
